November 18, 2008 - Celbracion de Otono on El Camino Real

On Saturday, Nov. 15, the El Camino Real Heritage Center held its third annual Celebracion de Otono, a day filled with fun and educational presentations highlighting the byway’s exciting history. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., five different speakers gave hour-long presentations about different aspects of El Camino Real’s past, from the disappearance of several small villages along the west branch of the byway, to a living history demonstration about a Southern Belle’s journey to become the first female professor at the University of Arizona. Several other on-going demonstrations, such as cornhusk doll-making and horno-baking, went on all day.
